Retreat™
September 4-7, 2026
Join James Knight for an extended long-weekend Somatic Wellness & Adventure Retreat® set in the heart of the Welsh countryside.
This immersive experience blends Gentle Somatic Yoga®, traditional hatha yoga, restorative time in nature, and conscious community — all held within the historic grounds of Caer Beris Manor, a beautifully restored Welsh estate surrounded by gardens, riverside walks, and rolling landscapes.
Each day unfolds at an unhurried pace, with optional morning somatic movement led by James and afternoon hatha yoga sessions taught by special guest teacher Carolyn Clarke, a respected yoga educator of over 40 years and Director of Jasmine Trust Yoga in England.
This retreat is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with your body, and experience Wales as both a place of beauty and a partner in restoration — through movement, presence, and shared experience.

Caer Beris Manor is a quietly elegant historic estate set within peaceful Welsh parkland. Surrounded by gardens, riverside paths, and wide countryside views, it offers an atmosphere of seclusion, comfort, and ease — an ideal container for rest and rejuvenation.
The manor features 20 thoughtfully renovated en-suite bedrooms, each uniquely decorated with comfort and elegance (see photos below). Inside, inviting shared spaces encourage both connection and solitude — from the cozy sitting rooms with fireplaces for reading and reflection, to the light-filled sunroom overlooking the gardens and beyond.
James Knight is an E-RYT, Certified Hanna Somatic Educator (Novato Institute for Somatic Research and Training), and Integrative Therapist with over 35 years of experience bridging yoga, somatics, and nervous-system-informed movement. He is one of the early pioneers to integrate somatic education into yoga practice, beginning in the 1990s.
Drawing from decades of study, private practice, and teaching thousands of students worldwide, James founded Gentle Somatic Yoga® as a heart-centered and evidence-informed approach to embodied well-being. His work supports sustainable healing, increased resilience, and a deeper sense of ease and freedom in the body.
Caryolyn Clarke has been teaching for over 40 years! She has always brought the legacy of yoga into everyday teaching. Carolyn adapts postural, breathing and contemplative practices to enable individuals to find personal flexibility, strength and calmness of mind within a class setting which reinforces positivity and confidence in everyday life. Equality and diversity are visible in the mixed agility classes she teaches locally and nationally.
Carolyn also runs British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) teacher training courses, often out of the Jasmine Trust Yoga studio in Nottinghamshire, England.
